SHARED AGENDA TEAM MEMBERS INVITED TO PLAY THEIR PART IN MAJOR HEALTHCARE CONFERENCE

Two members of the Shared Agenda team have been invited to play their part in a major European healthcare conference in London.

Head of Estate Planning Richard Clark and Strategic Estate Planner Laura Garnham have both recently achieved a Masters in Planning Buildings for Health at London South Bank University.

They studied part time for three years, spending a week per module in London and also studying remotely, graduating in November 2017.

Now, their success has led to being invited to the European Healthcare Design 2018 Congress & Exhibition at the Royal College of Physicians in London from on June 11 and 12.

Laura has been invited to give a presentation on her work, fighting off stiff competition from 135 other submissions, presenting under the title ‘What level of estate transformation is needed to enable the future multispecialty community provider (MCP) models to be implemented and deliver full potential benefits?’

MCPs are population-based new care models which aim to improve the physical, mental and social health and wellbeing of their local population.

Laura said: “It’s all about the integration of social, primary and community care within various areas of the health service.

“I’ll present to lots of healthcare and estate professionals, and leading industry players, so it’s a brilliant opportunity to be able to share my research.”

Meanwhile, Richard’s dissertation about the sizing of health buildings will be summarised on a poster and referenced in academic publications.

He said: “It means your paper is officially published and referenced in academic publications, so it becomes official knowledge.

“I’m really proud and privileged that my work has been recognised on this level.

“The Department of Health and Social Care has also asked if I can present my paper to them so they can use it to build on their existing guidance around sizing health buildings in the future.”

Jo Barnes, Managing Director of Shared Agenda, said: “We are incredibly proud of Richard and Laura and delighted that they have been chosen for this fantastic opportunity.

“Recognition on this scale and the opportunity to speak or be involved in a conference such as this does not happen every day and will be a very valuable learning experience to showcase their knowledge.”
